The 10 lessons of Tajweed Rules

 

  1. Makharij:refers to the correct place of articulation of each letter in Arabic. For example, the letter “ba” is pronounced from the lips, while the letter “sin” is pronounced from the teeth
  2. Sifaat: refers to the attributes of each letter in Arabic, such as whether it is intensity, openness, softness, etc.
  3. Madd: refers to the prolongation of certain vowels in Arabic, which can change the meaning of a word if not pronounced correctly.
  4. Ghunna: refers to the nasalization (getting out a small part of the sound of the letter from the nose) of certain letters in Arabic, which can add depth and resonance to the recitation.
  5. Qalqalah: refers to the disordered sound because of the sokoon. and it happened with certain letters in Arabic, which are five “qaf,” “ba,” “tta,” “dal,” and “jim.”
  6. Idgham: refers to the merging of certain letters when they appear together between two words, such as the merging of “noon with sokon” and “meem” between the words “mn mal.” And it should be pronounced in a special way that should be taking orally from a teacher. It happens with six different letters.
  7. Ikhfa: saying the “al-noun” and “al-tanwin”,  in a special way that should be taking orally from a teacher. It happens with fifteen different letters. Such as the merging of “al-noun” and “al-qaf” between the words “mn qala.” And it is quite different from al- Idgham.
  8. Izhar: refers to the clear and distinct pronunciation of certain letters in Arabic, such as the letters “ha,” “gha,” and “kha.”
  9. Iqlab: refers to the change of the letter “al-noun” and “al-tanwin” to “meem with sokoon” when it is followed by the letter “ba” in a word or between two words, such as “mn ba3d.”
  10. Ikhtilaas: pronouncing two-thirds of the letter in a word, so that the uttered of the letter is more than the omitted from it. And it is called embezzlement because you take part of the letter out of the pronunciation. Such as taking the dama out of the letter ”ra” in the word ”ya’morokom”
